CHENG Yen Pheng’s efforts paid off when she was won the 2019 UOB Painting of the Year (Malaysia) competition.
For her artwork titled “Tug of War: My Homeland”, Cheng received a cash prize of RM100,000 and will vie against winning entries from Indonesia, Singapore and Thailand in the 2019 UOB South-East Asian Painting of the Year contest. A winner will be announced on Nov 6 at the contest in Singapore.

‘Bunga Moyang’ by Nurul Asikin won the Most Promising Artist of the Year award in the Emerging Artist Category of 2019 UOB Painting of the Year (Malaysia) competition.
Cheng’s ‘Tug of War: My Homeland’ won the 2019 UOB Painting of the Year (Malaysia) award.
‘The Moon Swimmers’ by Ho Su San won the gold award in the Emerging Artist Category.
