A piano teacher in Kuantan, Pahang scored a distinction in the Licentiate of Trinity College London (LCTL) music performance diploma exam.
Shaye Soh Ee Lin (seated), who taught at Melody Music House, said she practiced for a minimum of six hours daily to ensure she was fully prepared for the exam. “The effort is worth it, ” said the 25-year-old.
Soh had previously completed the Associate of Trinity College London (ATCL) Performance Diploma in Piano at age 21. Melody Music House principal Nancy Wong (standing) said the LCTL qualification was a difficult path as the passing percentage was very low.
According to the Trinity College London website, the LCTL is comparable to the final year of an undergraduate degree in terms of level of demand. Other than piano, ukulele, guitar and drum lessons, Melody Music House also offers speech and drama classes.
