VISITORS to the Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents (MATTA) Fair Penang 2019 will enjoy free health screenings besides a chance to win attractive prizes.

The fair which kicks off tomorrow will see the participation of Malaysia Healthcare during the three-day event at Setia SPICE Arena in Bayan Lepas.

MATTA chief executive officer Phua Tai Neng said this is the first time Malaysia Healthcare is taking part in the fair.

“They will be taking up two booths and visitors can enjoy free health checkups on Saturday.

“Hosted in tandem with Visit Malaysia 2020, Malaysia Healthcare will present the ‘Malaysia Year of Healthcare Travel 2020’, which is a yearlong healthcare travel campaign.

“It is aimed at getting people to seek health and wellness treatments while enjoying the country’s tourist attractions, ” he said during a press conference at Setia SPICE Convention Centre yesterday.

The sixth edition of MATTA Fair Penang is open to the public from 10am to 9pm, featuring 296 booths and plenty of attractive deals.

MATTA honorary secretary-general Nigel Wong said visitors would enjoy special deals for both international and local tours besides irresistible airfares.

“There are plenty of tours for visitors to choose including Muslim-friendly tours and cruises.

“MATTA Fair Penang 2019 is also offering a lot of attractive prizes worth over RM30,000 in the Buyer’s Contest.

“With a minimum purchase of RM200 in travel packages, visitors stand a chance to win prizes which includes return air tickets, cruise holidays, hotel vouchers and admission tickets to theme parks.

“There are also Daily Lucky Draw prizes such as air tickets with hotel accommodation to be won daily, ” he said.

When asked if the Hong Kong’s protest movement affected tours to Hong Kong, Wong said several groups have directed tours to nearby destinations such as Thailand, Malaysia and Indonesia.

“We believe the disturbances in Hong Kong are temporary and business will resume as normal later, ” he said.

This year, the fair will include participation from state tourism organisations of Sarawak, Johor, Melaka and Terengganu and also from the Jakarta Tourism and Culture Office and Korea Tourism Organisation.

Penang Hop-On Hop-Off is the official sponsor, Malaysia Airlines the official airline and Merchantrade the official money changer.

Representatives from Travelsmart Vacation Sdn Bhd, SASMalaysia Tours and Travel Sdn Bhd, Eco-Coach Tours (M) Sdn Bhd, Angel Tours and Beautiful Planet Holiday Tour and Travel Sdn Bhd urged visitors to look out for the fabulous travel packages and special deals during the fair.
