THE Sultan of Selangor’s Cup (TSSC) may have ended over a month ago with the Selangor Selection clinching two out of three titles against Singapore, but retiree Ishak Ahmad had another reason to celebrate.
The 58-year-old from Dengkil who watched the matches on Aug 24 received the grand lucky draw prize – a Harley-Davidson 883 Iron motorcycle sponsored by Rasniaga Sdn Bhd – from the organising committee.
Ishak, who bought his ticket with the serial number 00708 through a friend, was elated after the presentation ceremony at Uncle ‘K’ SACC Mall in Shah Alam.
He said Aug 24 was his luckiest day as he never imagined that he would win something by attending the match.
“I had thrown the ticket stub on the ground thinking that there are thousands of people in the stadium.
“But as the announcement over the PA system continued, I picked up my ticket. Then when the final digit was read, I looked at my friend and asked him if I was seeing the numbers right, ” he said.
“I have been a fan since 1986 and each time Selangor plays, I will try to watch, ” said Ishak, adding that he had never missed an edition of TSSC.
“This is my first high-powered motorcycle and the winning number will also be registered as the number plate.”
The two other lucky draw prizes winners Siti Aishah Mohd and Muhd Shafiq Izzat Omar also received their prizes of a 3D/2N stay at Marriott Kota Kinabalu sponsored by Everspring Land Sdn Bhd.
Muhd Shafiq, a Shah Alam Stadium employee who manned the scoreboard on the night of the matches for the past two editions, said he was happy to have been chosen as one of the winners.
Siti Aishah, who was given the winning ticket by her sister, said it coincided with her fourth wedding anniversary.
TSSC organising chairman Tan Sri Abd Karim Munisar presented the prizes to the winners during the prize-giving ceremony.
“We are happy to have brought this year’s TSSC to a close with the presentation of the prizes to the lucky draw winners.
“For the second year in a row, the Honda City that was part of the other grand lucky draw prizes had no claimant and the date to claim is also over now.
“The fact that the prizes went to those who only bought one ticket or were given their ticket instead of the many others who bought more than one ticket hoping to win the lucky draw, shows that luck was the main factor.”
Abd Karim said next year’s edition would be announced after the Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah makes a decision.
“It is still too early to talk about next year, we will wait for the Sultan to decide on a date before we start with any plans.”
