MATTA honorary secretary-general Nigel Wong said visitors could also expect irresistible deals on Business and Economy Class seats under the Malaysia Airlines network and various offers from 298 booths at the fair.
“Malaysia Airlines is our official airline this time. They will give away air tickets for this year’s MATTA Fair Penang Buyers’ Contest.
“To join the contest, visitors need to merely spend a minimum of RM200 at the fair.
“We are expecting more than 1,600 participants for this contest,” he said during a press conference on Monday at Setia SPICE Arena in Bayan Lepas — the venue for the fair.
MATTA Fair Penang, from Oct 11 to Oct 13, is open to the public from 10am to 9pm.
Wong said they were expecting about 35,000 visitors for the fair which would generate up to RM40mil in sales.
Malaysia Airlines head of sales Roslan Ismail said four air tickets would be up for grabs in the Buyers’ Contest.
He said the four tickets from Penang include a business class ticket to Shanghai and an economy class ticket each to Bali, Kuala Lumpur and Kota Kinabalu.
“This is to further enhance visitors’ experience to the fair.
“In addition, our sister company Firefly will be sponsoring return tickets for the contest to destinations like Phuket, Banda Aceh, Kuantan and Kota Baru,” he said.
He said Malaysia Airlines, through its alliance network, now flies to over 100 destinations in over 150 countries.
