CUSTOMERS can celebrate Aeon Big’s seventh anniversary with exciting deals, promotions and contests until Dec 31.
Themed “7th Wonderful Anniversary”, with the tagline “Celebrate Our Milestone with You”, the launch of the campaign was held at the newly renovated Aeon Big Wangsa Maju, Kuala Lumpur.
Aeon Big (M) Sdn Bhd managing director Masayoshi Masuda said the past seven years had been rewarding, made possible by its loyal customers.
“Today marks an important time for us to look back and reflect on how far we have come.
“This will enable us to gather all that we have learnt so that we may continue forging a stronger future for Aeon Big, ” he said.
Masuda said prizes worth more than RM500,000 would be given out to 2,115 lucky winners during the Win Big and Fly Big Contest.
Customers stand a chance to win Aeon Big gift cards and electrical goods such as refrigerator, washing machine and LED TV.
In addition, seven winners stand a chance to win travel vouchers for two worth RM30,000 each.
“There will be amazing promotions, weekend deals and exclusive partnerships with our trade partners, ensuring that we bring better deals to all of you.
“We will also monitor the feedback and demand from our customers closely so that we will be able to better anticipate and meet their needs while having their best interests in mind, ” Masuda said.
Aeon Big, he said, had taken a step in the direction of more innovation promotions, such as its recent expansion into e-commerce.
“We believe this will make shopping a much more convenient and beneficial experience.”
In his keynote speech, Deputy Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Minister Chong Chieng Jen commended Aeon Big for its success in managing the hypermarket chain despite the challenging economic climate.
The chain had even opened new branches as part of its expansion plan.
Chong said Aeon Big had co-operated with the government for the development of local small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and that its good discounts had also helped the government in its efforts to reduce the cost of living.
“The biggest contributor to the country’s gross domestic product (GDP) is the retail business.
“Studies by the Malaysia Retailers Association show that the country’s retail sector experienced 4.5% growth during the second quarter of 2019 as opposed to 2.1% growth in the previous year.
“Malaysia’s GDP for the second quarter 2019 grew 4.9% despite ongoing global headwinds and the challenging external environment, especially surrounding the United States-China trade war, and Malaysia’s growth remained resilient in the second quarter of 2019.
“This is higher compared to the 4.5% growth recorded in the first quarter of 2019.
“I am confident we still have strong internal demand in the retail and wholesale business, ” Chong added.
Speaking to reporters later, Chong praised Aeon Big for continuing to offer a good shopping environment to its customers.
Aeon Big, he said, had also waived the listing fees for about 100 SMEs, allowing them to place their products on its shelves free of charge.
“They have even shortened the payment terms to 30 days for SMEs (instead of 60 days).
“These small companies need cash flow so Aeon made this special arrangement.”
Aeon Big will also offer prices starting with the number seven, for instance 70sen, RM7, RM70, second units with a 70% discount and many more activities throughout the celebration.
Apart from in-store activities, Aeon Big online store at Shopee will offer special promotions.
Seven top spenders from now until Nov 30 will get a Toshiba 9kg washing machine worth RM1,349 each.
