MALAYSIANS can now get a taste of future possibilities through the implementation of 5G technology with the launch of Huawei’s 5G Experiential Zone.
Launched by Huawei Malaysia consumer business group retail director Carlson Leong, the showcase comprises demonstration zones that enable visitors to test run some of the brand’s latest innovations to understand the benefits of 5G for users.
“The Huawei 5G Experiential Zone is a great way to showcase the benefits of 5G technology to consumers.
“We are entering a new era of 5G technology and we are excited to be able to deliver possibilities of the future, today, ” he shared.
The showcase has three areas.
The education section showcases network advancement of Huawei’s 5G and the gaming zone allows the public to experience seamless, latency-free virtual reality (VR) gaming on the cloud.
It creates a new way of gaming for the masses that does not affect storage and provides higher quality gaming through VR.
The speed test zone displays high Internet download speeds realised by Huawei’s trial Indoor 5G Lampsite, which was introduced and demonstrated to the public for the first time at the event.
Among the technologies presented at the experiential zone, which redefines lifestyle-changing 5G experiences, is the innovative network’s capability of hitting speeds between 1.2 and 1.4Gbps.
The future of faster speeds and downloads, which would enable consumers to do more with their time, was shown at the event on the Huawei Mate20X 5G device with the trial indoor 5G Lampsite.
Huawei representatives demonstrated the speed differences between 5G and 4G on separate devices.
Despite having a headstart for its tasks, the device on 4G was unable to beat the performance of the device using 5G connectivity. The 4G device was still downloading its second app, while the device on 5G had already completed 10.
Leong said Huawei was taking the lead to show what 5G could offer in terms of connectivity and wanted to go beyond just offering faster Internet speeds.
“More importantly, Huawei is pushing for a completely interconnected and intelligent world across devices, services and applications at an unimaginable speed, ” he said.
Ahead of the imminent roll-out of 5G technology in the country, the experiential zone partnered with Maxis to demonstrate the benefits of high speed and ubiquitous connectivity across a range of 5G-enabled services for consumers.
The Huawei 5G Experiential Zone is open until Oct 6 at the Huawei Experience Store at Pavilion Elite.
Maxis chief technology and information officer Morten Bangsgaard said, “Maxis is proud to be the 5G network provider for the Huawei 5G Experiential Zone, which is a testament to our network leadership and capabilities. This showcase will give a glimpse into an exciting future of connectivity for consumers.
“With supported Huawei devices and through the zone, we could reimagine the possibilities — almost instantaneous download speeds, higher resolution video and next-level VR cloud gaming capabilities.
“Earlier this year, we collaborated with Huawei to accelerate 5G in Malaysia, followed by our commencement of the first 5G live trials in the country.
“We are excited at the potential of 5G in a future of smart solutions for both consumers and businesses and we look forward to more milestones as we progress in this journey with Huawei.”
Huawei also hosted a live streaming session for the media and guests to witness the global launch of its super flagship Huawei Mate30 series as it unveiled in Munich on Sept 19.
The brand has confirmed that Malaysia is among the upcoming markets for the launch of the series, with a launch date in the pipeline.
