Pre-university foundation in business course

Ong said that all tests and examinations are conducted concurrently with Victoria University’s campus in Australia.

JOHOR BARU: Sunway College Johor Baru has introduced a new programme dubbed Foundation in Business to help ease students’ transition into university.

The pre-university programme started on Sept 3.

It is specially designed to support the development of fundamentals for students choosing a career in business or commerce.

Students will be introduced to a wide range of subjects to prepare them for their undergraduate studies.

These are much sought-after business specialisations such as Accounting, Finance, Management and Marketing, among others.

Sunway College Johor Baru deputy principal Ong Mei Mei explained that the programme was spread across three semesters and students would complete their studies within one year.

“Students who achieve CGPA 2.0 may progress directly into a business degree awarded by Victoria University in Melbourne, Australia, completed entirely in Sunway College Johor Baru, ” she added.

Ong also explained that admission into other universities was possible, subject to attaining the minimum score required for the intended undergraduate programme.

Students undertaking the programme are assessed through a combination of 50% coursework and 50% examination at the end of each semester.

The theoretical and practical aspects of each module are integrated with 21st century learning skills to develop students’ interests while building a firm grounding in this discipline.

The transferable skills gained throughout the foundation year will ensure a smooth transition into university.

Entry requirements are a pass in Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM/SPMV) or equivalent with a minimum of five credits, or Unified Examinations Certificate (UEC) with grade B in at least three subjects.

Other qualifications deemed equivalent by the Education Ministry are also accepted.
