FOR most children, “The Jungle Book – The Musical” staged at Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) reminded them of English author Rudyard Kipling’s 1894 novel that later became a hit Disney movie.
The story tells of the self-discovery journey of lead character Mowgli, an orphaned boy guided by his animal guardians while evading the threatening Shere Khan, a man-eating Royal Bengal Tiger.

The play recounted the journey of Rohingya refugees arriving in the country and their wish to be accepted without discrimination.
A special song written by three Rohingya boys in their mother tongue narrating their journey to Malaysia was performed at the end of the show in USM.
