MIRI: PKR and PAS leaders in Sarawak are on common ground in praising Sarawakians for maintaining their multiracial and multireligious solidarity during this Malaysia Day celebrations.

PAS Sarawak state commissioner Jofri Jaraiee yesterday said his party may be on a different ideological platform but was united with other state political parties in enjoying the special multiracial mood with the rakyat.

“We in PAS Sarawak are happy to see the Sept 16 Malaysia Day celebrated in the spirit of harmony and unity with people of all races and religions enjoying the occasion.

“We also take part in the happy celebration of the birthday of the formation of our nation with the people of Sarawak.

“The excellent interracial and multi–religious relationship among all people in Sarawak is something that is very unique.

“We are grateful to be part of this unique Sarawakian community where people from every background continue to be united despite their different cultures, ” said Jofri, who is also PAS Miri branch chairman, in his Malaysia Day message.

PKR leaders in Miri also stressed on unity and harmony in their simple Malaysia Day walkabout in the city.

They walked around the city centre to distribute Malaysia flags to members of the public.

PKR Miri chief Dr Michael Teo and PKR Hulu Rejang chief Abun Sui were with the PKR Wanita and PKR Youth teams in the visits.

Dr Teo also stressed on the need to preserve the unique multiracial balance found in Sarawak.

This asset is priceless and must be protected at all costs, he added.
