ABOUT 10 parks in the Bandar Baru Klang constituency will be upgraded with new outdoor exercise equipment and chairs this year, thanks to its assemblyman Datuk Teng Chang Khim.
Each park will be getting four pieces of exercise equipment and four benches.
To-date, two have been upgraded at the Klang Utama and Taman Berkeley neighbourhoods while five more applications are awaiting approval in the land office.
“The other three parks’ location are Jalan Bidor amd Lebuh Lang while the final site is yet to be
decided, ” said Teng during the launch of the completed park upgrade along Lorong Kenari in Taman Berkeley.
Teng, who used to be the assemblyman for Sungai Pinang, said the Bandar Baru Klang constituency was four times the size of his former area after the redelineation exercise last year.
“I have been receiving requests from residents to upgrade the parks in their neighbourhood as almost 90% of the 150 parks in my area are not equipped at all, ” he added.
Teng said park upgrading was one of his projects in Sungai Pinang and he wished to replicate it in his current constituency.
All the upgrades will be financed from his own allocation and each is estimated to cost between RM18,000 and RM19,000.
Apart from parks, Teng had also successfully pushed for the construction of a covered basketball court in Taman Eng Ann during his time in Sungai Pinang and now, a covered basketball court will be built in Taman Muhibbah.
“The construction will be done by Klang Municipal Council and is expected to cost about RM500,000, ” he said.
Teng hoped to be able to upgrade all the parks in his area over the next few years.
