PAYMENTS Network Malaysia Sdn Bhd (PayNet) held a ceremony to give away the grand prize for the DuitNow Launch Contest where a lucky winner won not one but two properties worth a total of RM1mil.

The contest, which ran from Jan 8 to May 31, offered a total of RM4mil in prizes.

Grand-prize winner Heng Soo Yin, a Public Bank customer who won the two condominiums, was offered a wide selection of properties across Malaysia from the portfolio of three developers, namely IJM Land, S P Setia or Sime Darby Property.

Heng opted for two condominiums from Sime Darby Property — Serini Melawati and Cantara Residences Ara Damansara — after considering dozens of options from the three developers.

“Words cannot describe how happy I am. Winning two condos worth RM1mil is truly life-changing, ” Heng said.

In December 2018, PayNet collaborated with banks in Malaysia to launch DuitNow, which allows customers to transfer money instantly and securely on a 24/7 basis at banks’ online or mobile banking channels.

DuitNow fund transfers can be directed using the recipients’ mobile, MyKad or business registration numbers.

In conjunction with the launch, PayNet jointly organised with banks a contest to reward customers when they use DuitNow.

Prizes included RM1mil in properties, a total of RM1mil in cash prizes, five RM20,000 Ikea gift card shopping sprees, a RM100,000 Malaysia Airlines holiday package, a Mercedes-Benz GLC200 and a Mercedes-Benz A200.

Sending up to RM5,000 using DuitNow is free for consumers and SMEs. To receive money, customers need only perform a one-time DuitNow ID registration by linking their mobile, MyKad or MyPR, passport or business registration numbers with their bank accounts.

“I use DuitNow at Public Bank’s Internet banking whenever I need to send money to my family and friends because it’s so easy to pay to their mobile numbers.

“I don’t need their bank account details to send them money. On top of that, DuitNow transactions are free, ” Heng added.

At the ceremony, Sime Darby Property chief marketing and sales officer Gerard Yuen Yun Wei said he was proud that they were the winner’s property developer of choice.

“We are humbled by her support and confidence in us and our projects. Her selection of Sime Darby Property is a testament to the desirability of our properties as well as the strength of our brand, ” he said.

Presenting the prizes was Payments Network Malaysia Group chief executive officer Peter Schiesser.

Speaking at the prize-presentation ceremony, Schiesser said, “Since its inception nine months ago, customer adoption of DuitNow is extremely encouraging.

“We have more than 7.5 million DuitNow ID registrations. DuitNow’s monthly transaction volume has grown 5.8 times between January and July 2019.”

“I trust that bank customers will find using DuitNow convenient, efficient and truly rewarding, ” said Schiesser.
