LAUGHTER, excitement and magic filled the air at the StarXpo Centre in KWC Fashion Wholesale during the Water Torture Escape and Live International Magic Show.
A first in Malaysia, the show brought together 10 international magicians and five local acts, who thrilled the enthusiastic audience with plenty of fantastic feats from illusions to hilarious comedy and mind-blowing tricks.
The highlight of the night was local magician Vikneswaran Allagu better known as Vikey, who presented the Vikey Water Torture Escape with his hands and legs tied up before being locked into a transparent water tank without oxygen.
Vikey emerged from the water tank three minutes and 16 seconds later and made his mark in the Malaysia Book of Records for being the fastest to escape the water torture cell.
“I trained for this act a couple of times and was hoping I could pull through and I did! My six months of preparation paid off for this great achievement in the Malaysia Book of Records, ” he said.
Besides Vikey, the line-up also showcased Artkim, Avery and Sylvia, Kimmy Liew, George and Ae Jay, Abang Bestz (all from Malaysia), Disguido (Italy), Kenris and Aurelia (France), Jeffery Tam (the Philippines), Wilson Lai (China), Magic Hunt (Thailand), Tito Cris (the Philippines), Mamada (Thailand), Mr J (Vietnam), Kevin (the Philippines) and Miki Yeung (China).
Also present at the show was magician Demian Aditya of America Got Talent Season 12, as special guest.
The show was organised by Magicview Entertainment and Event Management.
Vikey, who is also the founder of Magicview Entertainment and Event Management, shared that it took him four months to put the first big-scale magic event together.
“I thank all my magician friends, family members, sponsors and partners for making the show a success. There will definitely be a second show, ” he shared after recuperating from his act.
Additionally, the show made it into the Malaysia Book of Records for gathering the largest number of magician performers featured in a magic show.
As a co-sponsor of the event, KWC Fashion Wholesale advertising and promotions assistant manager Wendy Lam said the mall was proud to be part of the major event.
“KWC Fashion Wholesale is known as the favourite destination for shoppers looking for wholesale prices but not many know about StarXpo Centre.
“The event provided a great opportunity to promote the 32,065sq ft StarXpo Centre as an event space, which is located on the mall’s 15th floor.
“Since its opening in 2011, the purpose-built covered hall has already hosted both local and international events, including Indonesian artiste concerts, K-pop concerts and Malaysian International Gourmet Festival, ” said Lam.
