Guests who were present at the gated community in Gelugor, Penang, were treated to lunch and dinner.
There was also a lucky draw with four motorcycles as the grand prizes.
Some 200 people from the underprivileged groups in Penang and Kedah were also invited to the celebration.
They were given a hamper each and some cash aid by Sik district officer Datuk Bokhari Abdullah.
Employees of the Light Collection – cleaners, security guards and management staff – were also given hampers and duit raya.
They were also invited for the lunch and dinner.
In the evening, six chief monks, described by Raja Azhar as his ‘brothers’, and a silat association chairman were each presented with RM5, 000 in conjunction with Hari Raya Haji.
Raja Azhar, who stays at the gated community, decided to hold the event at the clubhouse to get to know his neighbours better.
He is also the founder and owner of Al-Tamim World, a consultancy company which sponsored the event.
Also present were his wives, sons Datuk Dr Raja Shazli and Raja Mohd Ridzuan, IJM Land Bhd senior general manager (north) Datuk Toh Chin Leong and The Light Collection joint management body chairman Carole Loh.
A resident, who declined to be named, said he and his family enjoyed themselves very much.
He said they were looking forward to the Chinese New Year event which Raja Azhar has already started planning.
“I find that he has a generous nature because he includes everyone in the celebration.
“He also made everyone feel welcomed and was smiling most of the time, ” he said.
