Hats off to 100 young entrepreneurs

ABOUT 100 of the youngest and brightest entrepreneurs were recognised for their contributions towards the Malaysian economy at the 100 Most Influential Young Entrepreneurs (100 MIYE) awards gala dinner.

The event hosted by Armani Media Sdn Bhd was held at Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre early this month.

It was attended by Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad and Entrepreneur Development Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Redzuan Yusof.

Among the winners were singer Datuk Siti Nurhaliza, squash queen Datuk Nicol David and badminton ace Datuk Lee Chong Wei.

Top Glove Corporation Bhd founder and executive chairman Tan Sri Lim Wee Chai was conferred a special 100 MIYE 2019 Lifetime Achievement Award for his decades of documented accomplishments in the field of entrepreneurship and his commitment in coaching and developing other young entrepreneurs.

“We have spoken a lot about how we hope to have entrepreneurs who will drive the nation forward in terms of economy, development and growth, ” said Dr Mahathir in his opening speech.

“To some, it may sound only about profit, monetary gains and bottom lines. But as we strive to create successful economic models through entrepreneurship, it is important that our entrepreneurs grow alongside noble values – integrity and honesty.”

The event saw 1, 300 participants comprising entrepreneurs from various industries, including celebrities, interior designers, medical practitioners and manufacturers. This year’s award ceremony had the most number of participants compared to the last four years.

“I feel humbled. This recognition is for my team and customers who believed in us from day one, ” Oxwhite Pte Ltd founder and one of the winners of the 100 MIYE award CK Chang.

“With this award, I have more weight on my shoulders so I have to exceed my customers’ expectations.”

Armani Media Sdn Bhd managing director Datuk KK Chua said one of the winners approached him to be in the photo with him and his parents.

“He wanted to share the joy of winning the award with his loved ones, and I was grateful to share the happy moment with them. I’m glad the award made an impact on someone’s life, ” said Chua.
