THE TARcian Run 2019 returns for its fifth consecutive year on Aug 18 at all Tunku Abdul Rahman University College (TAR UC) campuses nationwide.

Jointly organised by TAR UC and the TARCian Alumni Association (TAA), the much-anticipated event will be held concurrently at 6.30am in Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Perak, Johor and Sabah.

Open to TAR UC students, staff, alumni and their family members, the event has achieved 7,000 registrations to-date.

Registration has closed for all campuses except for Sabah, which will close on Aug 1.

Speaking at a press conference held at the TAR UC Kuala Lumpur main campus, TAA president Datuk Yap Kuak Fong said the event had been well-received since its first edition in 2015, with more than 1,700 runners, and had grown year by year since.

“I would like to thank all the sponsors for making the event possible.

“We are confident that it will be another major success this year, just like past years,” he said.

TARCian Run 2019 organising chairman Lim Kok Eng said the event also aimed at raising funds for the TARC Education Foundation.

“In celebration of TAR UC’s 50th Anniversary, a special T-shirt will be given to every 100th participant registered,” added Lim.

Also present at the press conference were TAA deputy president Datuk Chan Wah Kiang and TAR UC vice-president Associate Professor Dr Chook Ka Joo.

This year’s run consists of three categories – 11km TARCian (Men), 11km TARCian (Women) and a 5km Fun Run.

Participants can also look forward to winning lucky draw prizes worth more than RM20,000.

The race kits can be collected on Aug 1 and 2 for TAR UC students and staff while TAR UC alumni and family members can collect their kits on Aug 3 and 4 from 9am to 4pm at the Sports Complex at TAR UC Kuala Lumpur main campus.

TARCian Run 2019 is supported by 18 sponsors.
