MALAYSIA Bo Re Buddhist Organisation members raised and distributed RM58,300 from the proceeds of their charity golf tournament last year to the less fortunate.

“We are blessed to receive support from many generous golfers, individual donors as well as private and public-listed companies to support Bo Re Golf since the inception of this event in 2017,” said Bo Re Golf organising chairman Aerrene Eng.

The idea of having a charity golf tournament was mooted by the golfers themselves who were students of the Buddhist organisation’s Dharma night classes.

The charity golf event has gained traction in the golfing fraternity and this year, slots for the event slated for Sept 18 at Kota Permai Golf and Country Club in Shah Alam have been filled.

“What made it even more beautiful was that participating golfers were from all walks of life, religions, gender and ethnicities,” said Eng.

After presenting the cheques, the members organised small parties at each of the recipient organisations, namely Rumah Charis, Rumah Victory and Federal Territory Senior Citizens Welfare Association and Childcare Centre.

“We are grateful to our generous golfers and we wanted to show them how their contributions will go towards these children’s lifelong education journey,” said Eng.

Sponsors are welcome to contribute cash or kind towards the charity tournament. For details, call Eng at 012-221 3665.
