Malaysians can now enjoy Australian avocados deemed to be fresher than others in the market.

The fruits are air-flown to Malaysia within 48 hours after being picked from farms in Australia.

“We always prioritise the freshness and quality of our products to ensure customers get only the best,” said Jaya Grocer head of Fresh Distribution Centre Marc Francois at the Tasty and Nutritious campaign held at Starling Mall in Petaling Jaya.

The event was launched by Taste Australia, the national brand that represents the Australian horticulture industry, with the aim of inspiring Malaysians to make healthier food choices.

“These avocados are not only superior in taste, but are also grown in a safe environment with generations of expertise involved to ensure they are of the highest quality,” said Francois.

Jaya Grocer, which has 28 outlets nationwide, is expecting a large harvest of the Hass variety from farms in western and southern Australia, Victoria and New South Wales.

The avocados are displayed according to three categories – “Eat Now”, “Eat Soon” and “Eat Later” – to help shoppers pick the ones they need.

During the event, nutritionist Alexandra Prabaharan demonstrated three recipes using Australian avocados.

The dishes were Avocado Devilled Eggs, Malaysian Avocado Smoothie and Avocado Chocolate Mousse.
