SIBU: Sibu MATTA Fair, organised by Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents (MATTA) Sarawak Chapter is back again, promising attractive tour packages and air tickets.
This second fair will be held from Aug 2 to 4 at Sibu Civic Centre.
The fair is recognised as the major event for MATTA Sarawak Chapter every year and known to provide amazing opportunities such as exciting holiday packages, flight offers, lucky draws and several other activities.
This fair is acknowledged as a platform for the travel industry to promote their variety of travel packages, to foster and enhance networking among tour operators as well as a great way for people to find special offers from a variety of travel packages under one roof.
A member of MATTA Sarawak chapter, Michael Wong, said at a press conference that last year the fair recorded sales totalling RM3.7mil from 22 booths only.
“Though the economy is still slow, we are confident of achieving the same target this year,” he said.
Wong said there were only 22 booths last year due to limited space at Swan City Square.
“As we are having the fair at the Civic centre this time, we expect over 40 booths to be taken up by tour operators,” he said, adding that they expect to attract more than 2,000 visitors.
“As we are holding the fair simultaneously with the one in Johor, visitors can expect cheaper airfares offered by AirAsia and MAS,” he said.
He said those who buy packages worth at least RM1,000 are entitled to a lucky draw.
He said prizes include air tickets and air-conditioners.
Also present at the press conference were organising chairman Patrick Ling and MATTA Sarawak members. — By ANDY CHUA
