THE five-storey former Seberang Prai Municipal Council (MPSP) headquarters in Jalan Datuk Haji Ahmad Said, Butterworth, is up for rent at RM25,000 a month.

With a floor area of 1,993.9sq m (21,463sq ft), the main building is located right in town, near the recently upgraded Dewan Datuk Haji Ahmad Badawi (formerly known as Padang Bandaran).

It is also easily accessible from the Butterworth Outer Ring Road (BORR) and less than 2km away from the Penang Sentral bus station, ferry terminal, jetty and train station.

There are plenty of parking spaces in the area. The three annexed double-storey office blocks will soon be turned into an Art and Culture Centre by the state tourism development, arts, culture and heritage committee.

MPSP president Datuk Rozali Mohamud said the rental has been set at RM25,000 per month with a three-year contract and renewable until 2041.

“The block is ideal to be turned into an office, college or education institution, hotel, restaurant or supermarket.

“Application is open from July 30 to Aug 30,” he said during a press conference at the present council headquarters in Bandar Perda, Bukit Mertajam, recently.

Built in 1969, the building has been left idle since 2006 when the council shifted its headquarters to Menara MPSP in Bandar Perda, Bukit Mertajam.
