VISITORS were all smiles at the outdoor Eastern and Oriental (E&O) Bhd Hari Raya open house in Penang.
Adults and children alike were spotted enjoying a feast of local delicacies at the annual event held at the Straits Green public park in Seri Tanjung Pinang near Tesco.
They included residents, schoolchildren and community leaders from the Tanjung Tokong area.
The crowd was also entertained by dance performances by students of SK Tanjung Tokong, SK Convent Pulau Tikus and Tadis Ar-Rasyidin.
E&O Property (Penang) Sdn Bhd general manager Zawawi Yusop, clad in traditional Malay attire, led fellow staff members in going around to shake hands and exchange pleasantries.
In his opening speech, Zawawi said E&O had not forgotten its responsibility of spreading festive cheer to the less fortunate within its development vicinity.
“During Ramadan, E&O sponsored the sports day of all Think Green programmes for participating schools.
“The group also contributed cash to the local community for buka puasa sessions and Ramadan markets as well as funded repair work at the Pusat Komuniti Prihatin Tanjung Tokong multipurpose hall,” he said.
Also present at the Raya open house was Deputy Chief Minister I Datuk Ahmad Zakiyuddin Abdul Rahman.
Other attendees included state public works, utilities and flood mitigation committee chairman Zairil Khir Johari, Pulau Tikus assemblyman Chris Lee, Pulau Betong assemblyman Mohd Tuah Ismail and E&O group hospitality and lifestyle director Michael Saxon.
