Hotel keeps San Pedro tradition alive

San Pedro Night at Majestic Hotel is set to be a culturally invigorating promotion.

MELAKA: Majestic Hotel will celebrate the unique Portuguese San Pedro festival with its own cultural performances.

The “San Pedro Night” promotion on June 29 will include lively Portuguese folk dances, music and cuisine.

Event spokesman Alvin Kessler said the hotel was proud to celebrate San Pedro.

“Being able to keep traditions alive is extremely crucial, which we term in Kristang (Melaka Portuguese language ) as konservah tradisang.

The annual festival, also known as Festa San Pedro, is celebrated on a large scale by Melaka’s Portuguese community in homage to St Peter, the patron saint of fishermen.

Kessler said highlights of the hotel’s event included performances by local Portuguese dance troupe Dommarina.

The group was formed in 2007 and performs the community’s folk dances and songs.

The hotel is offering a package priced at RM638nett which includes accommodation in a deluxe room with breakfast for two, a San Pedro Night for two, and a 50-minute San Pedro-inspired spa treatment for one.

Guests also have the option of booking just dinner at RM180nett per person.
