JOHOR BARU: Barisan Nasional (BN) will continue to foster close ties among its component parties and stenghten the coalition.

MCA president Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong said the presence of Umno and MIC leaders at Bakri MCA division’s annual general assembly was testament of the strong unity among BN component parties.

“This close relationship has been fostered in the Bakri parlimentary constituency for decades.

“Nurture close ties among us,” he said in his Facebook posting.

Dr Wee said he hoped BN will continue to maintain good ties with its component parties and continue fighting for the rise of the party to benefit every level of society, regardless of race.

Among those who were present included Bakri Umno division chief Fuad Tukirin and deputy chief Datuk Lokman Md Don as well as Bakri MIC division chairman A. Suppiah and deputy chairman K. Sundral.

Suppiah said MCA has reignited a good tradition that had for decades brought about unity among the component parties.

“We used to observe this and invite each other to our events and must continue to do so.

“We look forward to having MCA and Umno leaders present at our annual events,” he said.

Bakri MCA division chairman Chris Lee said cooperation among BN leadership was strong.

“We will continue to enhance this cooperation and nurture the relationship,” he said. — By VENESA DEVI
