HP MALAYSIA has launched a new laptop said to be the world’s first “leather convertible” called the Spectre Folio.

The laptop was launched alongside the brand’s newest smart home printer, Tango X.

The new additions to HP’s stable of personal computing products combine style and functionality to redefine the PC and print experience.

Designed for modern-day consumers, the products “artfully merge technology and craftsmanship to empower life on the  go, seamlessly blending into consumers’ lifestyles and environments”.

HP Inc Malaysia managing director Fayza Mohamed Amin said, “Reinvention requires us to constantly challenge ourselves. It challenges us to constantly rethink consumer expectations and set new benchmarks for ourselves.

“For print, we are making it possible to print from your mobile devices, allowing you to print anytime, anywhere.

“For personal systems, we strive to create products that allow users to be productive, create easily and pursue their passions on stylish and secure form factors.”

Fayza added that the new products were based on customer insights and a dedication to design.

“They are for people who appreciate fine design that fits in with any decor either at home or the workplace. The products are easy to use.”

The company’s PC category business director Yogesh Bhatia said the Spectre Folio was unique for its leather feature.

“It is crafted from durable chrome-tanned leather and features precise artisan-inspired workmanship – all on the back of meticulously designed hardware.

“Its flexible chassis, made possible by the natural hinge of the full-grain leather, seamlessly converts between traditional laptop, tablet and tent modes,” he said.

Print category business director Hong Mee Mee said the Tango X was simple to set up, use and manage. “You can snap a photo in Paris and send it directly home to print.

“The printer also delivers a hands-free printing experience with a time-saving, voice-activated feature, in addition to being able to print up to twice as many pages with original HP high-yield ink cartridges.

“This first cloud-connected printer will be available in Malaysia by end of this year.”

The Spectre Folio is priced at RM7,999 while the Tango X carries a price tag of RM799.

HP also revealed an enhanced line-up of new printing and personal systems products designed to cater to evolving home, work and lifestyle needs.

For personal systems, this included an enhanced line-up of the Envy and Pavilion laptops.

The HP Omen 15, an ultra-thin portable gaming powerhouse from HP’s gaming portfolio, was also introduced at the event.

Under the print segment, the new OfficeJet and OfficeJet Pro series promise best-in-class security with improved features to ensure user data and document privacy.
