ORGANISERS of a blood donation campaign to be held at 1st Avenue Mall in Penang this Sunday are hoping to attract at least 300 people.
Kampong Kolam Village Community Management Council chairman Quah Peng Eow said the donation drive would start at 10am and end at 5pm.
“Last year, we collected 288 packs of blood, beating our initial target of 200.
“I hope we can get 300 packs of blood this year,” he said at a press conference in Jalan Talipon.
Quah said that apart from a free health test, the first 300 donors would also receive a goodie bag each.
Also present at the press conference was Komtar assemblyman Teh Lai Heng.
Penang Development Corporation (PDC) will also hold its annual blood donation campaign this month.
The event will be held on both the mainland and on the island.
The first session at Mydin Mall in Bukit Mertajam will be from 10am to 5pm on Saturday.
The second session will be held on Level 3 in Komtar from 10am to 5pm next Tuesday and Wednesday.
PDC general manager Mohd Bazid Abd Kahar said mystery prizes would be given to 50 successful donors.
“During the last 12 blood donation campaigns, PDC collected a total of 4,373 pints of blood for both the Penang Hospital and the Seberang Jaya Hospital,” he said.
