THE Asian Oil, Gas and Petrochemical Engineering Exhibition (OGA) returns with greater networking and business opportunities for both exhibitors and visitors.

To be held at Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre from June 18 to 20, the trade show’s 17th edition will showcase the industry’s latest innovations in products, services and technology in nine halls, totalling up to 20,000sq m of exhibition space.

Trade visitors can look forward to exploring the latest industry trends and innovations by 2,000 participating companies from 25 countries, covering the fields of exploration, production and transportation within the industry while on display will be marine equipment, offshore well equipment, subsea techs and reservoir evaluation, among others.

There will also be 11 international group pavilions comprising 12 countries – Australia, Canada, China, France, Germany, Norway, Scotland, Singapore, South Korea, The Netherlands, Britain and the United States.

The three-day event expects to attract 23,000 visitors.

“OGA 2019 offers exhibitors and trade investors great opportunities for establishing new partnerships and significantly enhancing their business.

“Malaysia’s strong and strategic position at the centre of the Asean market makes it an attractive location in providing all the essentials for the industry to cater to all global markets.

“This augurs well for Malaysia’s aspiration to become the leading oil and gas hub in the region,” said United Business Media (M) Sdn Bhd (UBM) country general manager Gerard Willem Leeuwenburgh.

He said 50% of the exhibitors were local companies while the estimated business trade value for this edition was RM2.2bil.

Participating in OGA for the first time is Turbowolf Resources Sdn Bhd which provides specialised engineering services in the oil and gas industry (rotating equipment and well intervention specialist), products sourcing and trading as well as being involved in civil and construction works.

“Being a start-up, we believe that it is time for us to make ourselves known through a wider network that enables us to reach out to both local and international markets.

“We believe OGA is an ideal platform for us to market our products as well as find leads to expand our business,” said director Romano Jong.

Turbowolf Resources will be featuring its Hex Kleen Industrial Chemicals for degreasers and handwash, which are locally manufactured and environmental friendly.

Another first time-participant, Petrogroup Sdn Bhd, previously known as Petroclamp, is also looking forward to the event dubbed as the region’s largest oil and gas trade show.

“The recent establishment of Petrogroup marks the expansion of the company, focusing not only on downhole cable protectors in the upstream and oil industry but venturing into more intervention tools and products.

“Our participation this round is to introduce the expanded company portfolio to the industry as well as new technologies and products,” said technical sales engineer Syaza Shaharuddin, adding that Petroclamp was also one of the local companies awarded under the Petronas vendor development programme (VDP).

Meanwhile, Goforth Corporation Sdn Bhd, Malaysia’s leading supplier of steel wire rope, lifting gears and accessories for all industry applications, is back on board for the fifth time with double the booth size.

“OGA is one show that we would not miss. It is where everybody from the industry meet for three days, catch up with old friends and get to know new people.

“This is also the time for us to highlight products that we carry,” said executive director Adrian Ng, adding that the focus this year was on load cells and subsea remote operated vehicle (ROV) rigging and lifting equipment.

BlastOne Asia Sdn Bhd, also a return exhibitor, will be speaking to visitors at OGA 2019 on the benefits and cost impact of waste reduction and energy minimisation called Performance Cubed, which uses the right blasting equipment with GMA Garnet abrasive that can make an overall project profitable.

“BlastOne and Syawaja are surface preparation experts and we are here to help blasting and painting contractors in Malaysia by extending coating life and reducing energy consumption with our 40 years of experience.

“BlastOne personnel have worked on projects around the world and in partnership with Syawaja, distributors of GMA Garnet in Malaysia, the most superior abrasive used in refinery, shipbuilding and topside maintenance of the global oil and gas industry,” said president Datuk Ya Mahmud Mohd Noor.

This year’s edition will also see a new event – the inaugural OGA Innovation Award (OIA) 2019 to recognise and honour local companies and individuals at the forefront of homegrown innovation.

OIA 2019 is organised by the Malaysian Oil and Gas Services Council (MOGSC) together with Malaysia Petroleum Resources Corporation (MPRC).

Among other highlights is a series of free trade talks by more than 18 exhibitors, covering the industry’s latest trends.

“We have also organised industry-related talks by Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (Matrade) representatives.

“Their talk is titled ‘Be a Global Champion with Matrade: Target Countries, Finance Options and Export Programme’, while the second talk is by Universiti Teknologi Petronas on ‘Transforming the Oil and Gas Landscape: Enabling Digitalisation through Research Institutions’,” said Leeuwenburgh.

Additionally, a business-matching platform during the trade event will allow exhibitors to pre-schedule meetings with other attendees using an easy-to-use technology platform, combined with a personalised service to help maximise their networking opportunities.

Happening simultaneously is the Subsea Malaysia 2019 conference by Subsea UK, featuring free daily presentations during the trade event. Prior registration is required via the Subsea UK website.

Visitors will also stand a chance to win lucky draw prizes, including Sony bluetooth speaker, Samsung Galaxy watch, GoPro Hero 7 Silver Edition, Huawei Nova 4e and hotel vouchers.

Organised by UBM, OGA 2019 is endorsed by Matrade and supported by the Prime Minister’s Department, International Trade and Industry Ministry, Tourism, Arts and Culture Ministry, Malaysia Convention and Exhibition Bureau, Malaysian Investment Development Authority, MOGSC, the Institution of Engineers Malaysia, MPRC, Malaysian Offshore Contractors Association and the Malaysia OSV Owners’ Association.

OGA 2019 is open from 10am to 6pm on June 18 and 19, and 10am to 5pm on June 20. Pre-registration is open until June 15.
