IT WAS a heart-warming sight to see the faces of children light up after receiving food and beverages from the #kongsinikmat food truck.
Export-Import Bank of Malaysia Bhd (Exim Bank) and mStar, The Star’s Malay language portal, distributed 200 packs of Nasi Lemak Ayam Penyet and beverages each to Madrasah Muiinulislam Tahfizul Quran and Madrasah Darul Muttaqin Maa’ Tahfizul Quraan in Klang.
The food truck visit was part of the #kongsinikmat campaign to share the blessings of Ramadan.
Madrasah Muiinulislam Tahfizul Quran secretary Amir Khan Mustak Ahmed said it was a thoughtful initiative.
“We are thankful for this meal which was given to the children and some of their parents too,” he said.
He shared that the madrasah was set up in 2014 at Jalan Pasar Baru, Klang.
“We have 107 Rohingya children, along with six teachers, including myself, and a cook,” he said.
Meanwhile, Madrasah Darul Muttaqin Maa’ Tahfizul Quraan houses more than 130 children and has five ustaz.
“The children were excited to have something different from their usual breaking of fast meal,” said the madrasah’s deputy chairman Mohd Arab Mohd Yunus.
He said the home received more contributions of food during Ramadan.
“We are hoping that contributions will continue during other months as well,” said Mohd Arab, adding that the madrasah’s monthly expenses, including rental, water and electricity, was about RM12,000.
