Low clocking out for the final time at SMJK Chung Ling Butterworth. With him is the school’s senior assistant (administration) Tang Keng Hwa.

AFTER serving 38 years in the teaching profession, SMJK Chung Ling Butterworth principal Low Lim Wah is now looking forward to his retirement.

Low, who will turn 60 on June 9, said he would be going back to drawing and publishing comic books now that he has time for it.

“I took up the hobby of drawing comics to express a sense of humour about 20 years ago but I got very busy with work and did not have the time to further pursue it.

“Now I have time for my family and myself, I will get back to drawing comics on a teacher’s life, or maybe on politics.

“There were many hilarious moments in schools that I hope to share with everyone,” he said during his retirement ceremony at the school recently.

Low started as a teacher in SRJK(C) Yoke Kuan in Sekinchan, Selangor in 1981.

Before becoming the principal of Chung Ling Butterworth, he was also the headmaster of SMJK Heng Ee and SMK Kampung Kastam.

To mark his retirement, Low was given a warm send-off on a vintage 1928 Ford Model A with hundreds of students lining along the school driveway to bid him farewell.

He was accompanied by his wife Puah Siew Kim, 57.
