THE medical equipment and facilities at Penang Caring Dialysis Society at the Penang MCA headquarters in Transfer Road, George Town, will be upgraded soon.
Its vice chairman Loh Ai Poh, 67, said she was happy and grateful for the RM5,000 donation from the trustees of the Leong San Tong Khoo Kongsi.
“We started operation in 2001 to provide haemodialysis treatment for the needy.
“With the money received, we will be able to enhance the current equipment and facilities for our patients,” he said after receiving the aid at the Khoo Kongsi temple in Cannon Square on Tuesday.
The society was among 18 charitable organisations which received RM5,000 each.
Leong San Tong Khoo Kongsi president Datuk Seri Khoo Keat Siew thanked the charitable organisations for their efforts and said a total sum of RM90,000 was given out.
“The trustees are donating to these institutions as they had done a lot of work for the community over the past few years. I hope they will continue to help the people.
“We want to show our appreciation to these organisations with this aid,” he said.
Besides the society, the other beneficiaries were Befrienders Penang, Penang Home for The Infirm and Aged, Penang Pure Lotus Hospice of Compassion, Mount Miriam Cancer Hospital, Silver Jubilee Home for The Aged, The Cerebral Palsy (Spastic) Children’s Association of Penang, St Nicholas’ Home Penang, Buddhist Tzu-Chi Merits Society Malaysia, Penang Fo Yi Haemodialysis Society, Eden Handicap Service Centre Bhd, The Society for Aid to the Handicapped, Pertubuhan Kebajikan Kasih Insan Pulau Pinang, Penang Cheshire Home, Malaysian Association for the Blind, D’Home Mental Health Association, Pertubuhan Rumah Kebajikan Seri Cahaya Pulau Pinang and Persatuan Kanak-Kanak Terencat Akal Seberang Perai Utara-Butterworth (Pektas).
