MIRI: Sarawak will be getting its fair share of affordable homes.

Sarawak Pakatan secretary Senator Alan Ling Sie Kiong said a blueprint was being drawn up by the Housing and Local Government Ministry on affordable housing needs in the state.

Ling, who is also Sarawak DAP secretary, said the Government aims to build 100,000 units of houses for the low- and middle-income groups over the next 10 years.

“The country has a one million units target and Sarawak will get its fair share.

“We will ensure the interests of Sarawakians are looked into.

“I am liaising with the Housing and Local Government Ministry on this matter.

“The number of units to be constructed in Sarawak will be based on the specific needs of the various districts in the state.“We are compiling statistics now,” he said at a buka puasa event here. — By STEPHEN THEN
