KUANTAN: Rare earth materials producer Lynas Malaysia has embarked on a roadshow to educate the public on its operations.
Its vice-president (people and culture) Mimi Afzan Afza said this was in line with the Lynas executive review committee’s recommendation to arrange a more effective communication strategy to better tackle the issue of conflict regarding risks.
“One of the best way is to engage the public directly and tell them what we are all about,” she said.
The company had so far made two stops in public places over the past two weekends.
Mimi Afzan said the exhibition would continue after Ramadan and Hari Raya Aidilfitri.
The recent stop in Teluk Chempedak drew opposition as a group of anti-Lynas activists showed up to make their presence known.
The members of the Save Malaysia, Stop Lynas group unfurled banners, shouted slogans and posed for pictures near the exhibition booth before dispersing. — By ONG HAN SEAN
