Fish breeders in hot soup

MELAKA: State Water Regulatory Body (BKSA) has lodged a police report against two catfish breeders at Hutan Percha in Alor Gajah following the ammonia pollution of Sungai Batang Melaka.

State Transport, Works and Public Amenities Committee chairman Datuk Mohd Sofi Abdul Wahab said the April 28 incident was viewed as critical because water supply to 18,076 consumers in Alor Gajah was abruptly disrupted. “Consumers could have suffered health complications if we had not acted promptly as the reading of ammonia exceeded 3.5mg/l, which is above the level set by the Health Ministry on safe water supply.
