JOHOR BARU: The Johor royal family spent the first day of Ramadan getting closer to the people here.

Johor Ruler Sultan Ibrahim Ibni Almarhum Sultan Iskandar visited Bandar Baru Uda Ramadan bazaar and greeted visitors there.

“The crowd was surprised and excited to see His Majesty and some took the opportunity to take photos with him.

“Sultan Ibrahim was at the bazaar at about 5pm to buy food for breaking of fast,” said a statement posted on the Sultan’s official Facebook page.

The Sultan and Johor Permaisuri Raja Zarith Sofiah Sultan Idris Shah also donated some 150 packets of food to foreign workers here.

The packed food was distributed by volunteers from Johor Malaysian Red Crescent Society (MRCS) at Masjid India in Johor Baru.

Raja Zarith Sofiah is also the Royal patron of MRCS.

Tunku Mahkota Johor Tunku Ismail Ibni Sultan Ibrahim (TMJ) also mingled with the crowd when buying food at Perling Mall Bazaar in Taman Perling here.

He was accompanied by Tunku Temenggong Johor Tunku Idris Iskandar Ibni Sultan Ibrahim and Tunku Putera Johor Tunku Abu Bakar Ibni Sultan Ibrahim. – By VENESA DEVI
