150,000 prawn seeds and fishes released into Muda River


THE Muda River which borders Penang and Kedah is now filled with colonies of giant freshwater prawn seeds and schools of juvenile tinfoil barbs after the Penang Fisheries Department released 150,000 of them into the water.

Penang Fisheries Department director Noraisyah Abu Bakar said 100,000 of the giant freshwater prawns and 50,000 of the tinfoil barbs were released as part of the effort to rehabilitate the river and benefit fishermen in Kampung Gua Kepah.
