JOHOR BARU: A non-governmental organisation hopes to raise funds to help underprivileged students through a charity run today.
The run, organised by Persatuan Prihatin Komuniti Johor Bahru (PPKJB), hopes to raise RM100,000 to fund their activities.
PPKJB chairman Andy Hun said they hoped to see about 1,500 to 2,000 participants at the event today, which is Labour Day.
“This is our second event following last year’s successful EduRun 2018.
“The RM40,000 we raised last year was used to support 10 students from needy families,” said Hun.
“We hope to use the money raised this time to increase the number of children whom we can help, especially for their education needs,” he said.
The run is at Sireh Park, Iskandar Puteri, with a 10km, 5km and a Kids’ fun run.
Participants can also look forward to a carnival after the run that will include a range of activities.
Among the fun activities are a clown’s performance, fitness dance, game booths, food trucks and more.
Registration for the 10km is RM90, 5km (RM70) and Kids fun run (RM30). All participants will get a goodie bag.
