HOME improvement involves a lot of decision-making, and surveying trends, products, services and solutions can be time-consuming, but you can save the hassle by just visiting the Home Design and Interior Exhibition (Homedec) at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre.
After all, the fair, which kicked off on Thursday (Apr 18) and ends on Sunday, boasts 400 exhibitors and over 1,100 booths.
C.I.S Network president Datuk Vincent Lim (pic) said homeowners should take the time to survey the products and services in the market first.
“We want our visitors to make an informed decision, hence our tagline this year of 'Homedecisions'," said Lim.
He said that those wanting to invest in major renovations should take up to six months before making a decision.
“The design and renovation should suit the occupants’ needs and lifestyle. For example, if one does not spend much time cooking, one should not focus or invest much in a kitchen renovation, because it will not serve a purpose," he said.
Lim said many people were not well-prepared for home renovations.
“Based on our research, 46% of homeowners spend more than their initial budget, 41% discover products and materials are more expensive than they projected, and 30% went over their budget because they changed their mind," he said.
Lim added that Homedec could help these people make better decisions.
He said Homedec is expected to draw 80,000 visitors, with transactions worth about RM120mil projected to take place over the next four days.
“Whether you are looking to do up your property to generate extra income through short-stay rentals, or a homeowner seeking to rejuvenate into your very own resort, Homedec is your answer," he said.
Lim added that the two show units designed together with C.I.S Network's strategic partner HostAStay demonstrated how products found at HomeDec could maximise and beautify homes with stunning designs while still being utilitarian.
“This time, HostAStay will be conducting workshops to show you how you can transform your home into an oasis of peace and tranquillity while earning passive income from it,” he said.
Sunday is the last day of Homedec. Opening hours are from 10am to 8pm.
