Expanding reach with second store

SOGO has opened its second department store at Central i-City shopping centre in Shah Alam, Selangor.

The new store spans about 18,581sq m of retail space across four levels, from the ground floor right up to the third floor.

It features more than 400 brands with a wide variety of product categories, ranging from an extensive mix at the Beauty Hall and women’s fashion and menswear along with a comprehensive collection of accessories, to items for children, home and bedding selections.

With its fresh Japanese aesthetics design concept, the new store, decorated with warm contemporary lighting, exudes a sleek and minimalist approach while giving the whole atmosphere a fresh and modern vibe.

Additionally, it features an experiential retail concept to offer shoppers an enhanced shopping experience.

“Aside from purchasing beauty products on the ground floor, shoppers can get their manicure, pedicure and waxing done at the Smooch Waxing Studio,” said Sogo Group of Companies group chief operating officer Raymond Teo.

“There is also the Prinz Classic Barbershop on the second level, while the shoe and bag spa is at the ladies’ shoes section on the first floor.

“We also have cafes for those who want to chill out without having to leave the department store.”

A lion dance was held during the grand opening to bring the store an abundance of prosperity and luck.

To mark the opening of Sogo, customers will be treated to attractive promotions, redemptions and activities.

Among the many programmes lined up is the Shop Win Fly contest where shoppers can spend and stand a chance of winning a six-day-four-night trip for two to Tokyo, Japan. The contest runs until July 14.

Until June 30, shoppers also stand a chance of winning prizes of up to RM4,000 through the Takeo Cookworks collection Redemption Programme.

“This year marks our 25th anniversary and the opening of this store is an important milestone for us.

“Opening Sogo in Central i-City is not only to cater to the needs of the Shah Alam community and beyond but also to be nearer and engage more with them,” said Sogo Group of Companies group chief executive officer Toh Peng Koon.

Toh said the company was very selective in choosing the sites for its expansion and he was confident the mall would be the main shopping gateway within the vicinity.

On the department store’s expansion plans, Toh said it would be an exciting step forward as the brand continues to grow.

“We are opening two new stores this month.

“After Sogo Central i-City, it will be Sogo The Mall in Mid Valley Southkey, Johor Baru, on April 23,” he added.

“By 2022, Sogo should have expanded its total network to six stores with a total retail space of 222,967sq m, which includes Prai Megamall in Penang, Selayang, Terengganu, and the first Seibu department store at the Tun Razak Exchange (TRX) Lifestyle Precinct in Kuala Lumpur.”
