MIRI: Spaoh district in southern Sarawak is hit by drought and Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department yesterday deployed tankers to supply treated water to residents following appeals for help.

The department in its latest updates said some 22,000 litres of treated water was supplied.

“This is the second day Spaoh is without water. “As it was an emergency, our men carried out the community service,” the department said.

It also added that they were dealing with the forest fires in many parts of the state.

The water was sourced from the district water treatment plant. Spaoh is located about 250km from Kuching. — By STEPHEN THEN
