SMART Reader Worldwide continues its efforts to advocate equal access to quality early childhood education through the presentation of the National One Child One Hope (OCOH) Education Scholarships to 14 underprivileged children from Yayasan Tuanku Syed Putra.
The event took place at the Perlis National Department For Culture and Arts Auditorium in Kangar.
At the event, Smart Reader Worldwide chief executive officer Datuk Seri Dr Richard Ong presented a cheque for RM100,000 to the Raja Muda of Perlis Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail, who is also the chairman of Yayasan Tuanku Syed Putra.
The contribution comprised financial aid in terms of schooling fees as well as school supplies such as uniforms, shoes, school bags, educational books and other learning materials. These were distributed by the Raja Puan Muda of Perlis Tuanku Hajjah Lailatul Shahreen Akashah Khalil.
“It is very crucial that quality education is attainable by all children throughout the country, regardless of race, creed or upbringing. With the right tools, children can achieve their full potential and ambition,” said Smart Reader Worldwide Group executive director Datin Seri Dr KH Wang.
Ong concurred, saying,
“Through the OCOH initiative,
we aim to provide a platform
for children to develop a strong educational foundation.
“Since its inception in 2008, the accomplishments achieved by the awardees of this programme have proven its immeasurable value to the community.
“We would also like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to Yayasan Tuanku Syed Putra for their continuous support for the OCOH programme.”
The guests were further entertained by the performances of children from Smart Reader Kids Taman Sri Bahagia Kangar and Smart Reader Kids Jalan Arau-Kodiang.
Smart Reader franchisee Alias Ayob said, “We are truly grateful for the continuous support that Smart Reader Worldwide provides to the underprivileged pupils of Perlis.
“The One Child One Hope initiative motivates us to do our best in ensuring we deliver the best education to our children, nurturing them to excel academically, develop outstanding social skills and contribute positively to the community.”
The Smart Reader Kids programme provides children with a holistic experience as they enhance children’s cognitive, social and physical skills using a simple, creative and fun methodology.
Smart Reader Worldwide has also developed tech-based applications that will not only transform the teaching and learning process, but also improve the management of the centre’s administration to better monitor pupils’ safety, well-being and progress in school.
The Smart Kinder-Tech Programme is an interactive e-learning tool that incorporates technology in lessons to create a more conducive classroom.
The Smart Student Management System Programme, on the other hand, allows parents to access all information regarding their child, including live attendance, activities, and achievements at all times from a mobile application.
Through the National One Child One Hope Education Scholarship Programme, less fortunate pupils are able to access similar excellent educational experience.
The programme has, since 2008, funded more than 600 underprivileged children nationwide through their preschool education.
The organisation will continue this endeavour in Smart Reader Kids centres nationwide to offer children scholarship assistance to underprivileged children in Malaysia.
