PETALING JAYA: The slip road at KM5 of the Damansara Link from Hartamas/Bangsar heading towards Section 17 and the NKVE has been closed to facilitate the removal of a damaged billboard.
The road is expected to be reopened by 1.30pm Sunday (March 24), but will be closed again from 8pm for the structure to be dismantled.
The road is expected to be reopened by 6am Monday (March 25).
Traffic from Jalan Bukit Kiara/Hartamas to the NKVE and LDP will be diverted to the Maarof interchange for a U-turn.
Those from Pusat Bandar Damansara/Bangsar heading to Jalan 16/11 and Jalan Bukit Kiara will be diverted to Toll Plaza A of the Damansara Toll Plaza, before exiting at the Section 17 intersection.
Lingkaran Trans Kota Sdn Bhd (Litrak), the concessionaire for the Sprint Highway, said the closure was necessary as it concerned the safety of motorists.
Litrak Communication Department head Shah Rizal Mohamed Fawzi said the damaged billboard was located outside the Sprint Highway boundary and belonged to a third party advertising company.
“It is unclear how the billboard was damaged, but we have instructed the advertising company to dismantle the structure as soon as possible.
“Removal works started yesterday, but was delayed because of a broken down crane,” he said when contacted Sunday.
Shah Rizal added that because of the closure, motorists have been diverted to the Damansara Toll Plaza A, where they will receive an IOU form.
“Motorists will have to exit via Toll Plaza A as there is no alternative route.
“We apologise to all Sprint Highway users for the road closure and are working to resolve the situation,” he said.
Road users who have been affected by the road closure (those who received IOU form at Damansara Toll Plaza A) can contact its Communications Department helpline at 03-7494 7333.
