Upin and Ipin roadshow to spread school holiday cheer


This month, Malaysia’s favourite animated twins Upin&Ipin are back again with a brand-new film – Upin&Ipin: Keris Siamang Tunggal.

In conjunction with the release of the movie, Golden Screen Cinemas (GSC) will kick off a series of roadshows during the school holidays which will be centred around Upin&Ipin promotions and activities.

From March 15 to 31, customers visiting selected participating GSC theatres in the country will be able to take part in a host of exciting activities. There will be loads of mini games as well as awesome Upin&Ipin movie bundles to pick up.

The programme for the GSC school holiday roadshow with Upin&Ipin is as follows:

l Held at 15 selected locations on weekends from March 15 onwards, customers visiting these cinemas will be able to join in mini games with their children such as Cabaran Keris Sakti and Batu Bertuah.

In Cabaran Keris Sakti, customers will have to successfully toss two “magical keris” into a box representing the villain Raja Bersiong and his guards from the movie Upin&Ipin: Keris Siamang Tunggal.

For Batu Bertuah, the goal is to toss at least one mini bean bag (of the five given) into the cups provided.

These events will be at GSC cinemas in Mid Valley Megamall, Setia City Mall, Sunway Carnival, Queensbay Mall, Mentakab Star Mall, Palm Mall, Paradigm JB, Amanjaya Mall, Aman Central, East Coast Mall, 1Borneo, Berjaya Times Square, Dataran Pahlawan, Bintang Megamall, CityONE Megamall.

l At some locations, cinema-goers will be able to take part in traditional Malaysian games like teng-teng, a localised version of hopscotch, as well as pancing selipar in which children will have to fish two flip-flops using a fishing hook.

Participating GSC cinemas are Alamanda, MyTown, Melawati Mall, Paradigm Mall, IOI City Mall, Ipoh Parade, AEON Bandaraya Melaka, Quill City Mall, Berjaya Megamall.

l From March 22 and 30, customers stand a chance to meet Upin&Ipin, as there will be mascot appearances scheduled at 23 selected cinemas throughout the country. For the full schedule, go to gsc.com.my.

These GSC cinemas are in Aman Central, Paradigm JB, Amanjaya Mall, Queensbay Mall, Sunway Carnival, Dataran Pahlawan, Ipoh Parade, Aeon Bandaraya Melaka, Palm Mall, IOI Mall, Alamanda, Melawati Mall, Quill City Mall, Mid Valley Megamall, Paradigm Mall, Berjaya Times Square, NU Sentral, Setia City Mall, IOI City Mall, Mentakab Star Mall, East Coast Mall, 1 Utama, MyTown.

For Upin&Ipin fans, there will also be a special movie screening bundle for March 16 and 17. Priced at RM30, this exclusive screening allows customers to catch the movie before the premiere.

They will also enjoy a free regular popcorn combo and get Upin&Ipin merchandise.

This special screening is only available at Alamanda, Ipoh Parade, Paradigm JB, Aman Central, East Coast Mall, Dataran Pahlawan, Sunway Carnival, 1Borneo, CityOne Megamall and Quill City Mall.

Cinema-goers who do catch Upin&Ipin at GSC cinemas can also participate in a Facebook contest for a chance to win an all-expense-paid celebratory party with Upin&Ipin.

Leave a comment on the contest post in GSC’s Facebook page with a photo of two tickets to Upin&Ipin: Keris Siamang Tunggal, to be in the running to win the party bash, as well as Upin&Ipin merchandise, such as pouches, Pin Pin blocks, stickers and themed tissue packs.

There will be Upin&Ipin tumbler promotions at your nearest GSC cinema. From RM15, customers can own a tumbler featuring Upin or Ipin, or even opt for a regular popcorn combo with the tumbler at RM18.

Customer can also upsize their regular drink to large at only 50sen.

In addition, fans also stand a chance to win GSC movie tickets by posting a photo of their Upin&Ipin tumblers in the most creative and coolest way with the hashtag #GSCUpinIpin.
