RESIDENTS in Taman Medan, Petaling Jaya raised issues concerning waste disposal and stray dogs when their assemblyman and area councillor visited them during a walkabout at the Section 51A, Taman Medan night market.
Taman Medan assemblyman Syamsul Firdaus Mohamad Supri and area councillor Mohamad Shakirien Abd Razak took time to listen to traders and visitors at the pasar malam.
“A lot of the problems are related to waste. This comes back to people’s attitude in dealing with waste management.
“Some traders also highlighted that they were facing difficulties to renew their business licences this year.
“I am not too sure what is the reason but we have taken note of this,” said Mohamad Shakirien.
He said the best way to know people’s complaints was by going to the ground and making frequent visits to understand residents’ issues. The people’s representatives also took the opportunity to promote Skim Peduli Sihat (SPS) which offers RM500 financial assistance to the B40 (low-income) families every year for private clinic visits.
They also promoted Skim Mesra Usia Emas (SMUE), a scheme for Selangor residents to assist families of senior citizens or the disabled who passed away.
