MIRI: Miri City Council received 1,677 complaints from the public last year on public services and amenities.
Mayor Adam Yii said of these cases, 907 were resolved while the rest were pending.
Speaking at a council appreciation gathering with stakeholders, community groups and the media, he said the council was always striving to improve its services to rate payers.
“We welcome feedback from the public.
“Last year the council received complaints from the public via Talikhidmat hotline.
“We have dealt with 907 cases while the rest are pending,” he said.
Yii said the council collected RM74mil in revenue last year, and spent RM78mil in development and administrative expenditure.He said out of the 143 public projects undertaken in the city, 96 have been completed.
On tourism, he said six projects to boost tourism sites were carried out using the RM10mil special fund from the state government.
Meanwhile, Miri City Council has garnered the cooperation of neighbourhood committees or Rukun Tetangga to beautify residential areas in this resort city.
The council is working with all the residents to get ideas to beautify the place they live in.
Yii said the council was also reducing pollution by cutting down the use of plastic and banning styrofoam food containers.
