KUANTAN: Semambu assemblyman Lee Chean Chung has lauded the Water, Land and Natural Resources Ministry’s plan to hold a public hearing and engagement on the new bauxite mining standard operating procedure (SOP).

Lee said the bauxite mining issue was not a trivial matter and there was basis for the people’s objection to the mining methods and handling of the mineral in the past.
