THE third edition of the Penang International Food Festival (PIFF) is back to please foodies from April 13 to 28.
The 16-day culinary adventure will feature three major events comprising the Street Food Festival, Taste of Penang and Penang Seafood Galore.
Penang Tourism Development, Heritage, Culture and Arts Committee chairman Yeoh Soon Hin said the festival aims to celebrate the diversity of delicacies and showcase the authenticity of local food in Penang.
“We will have the two-day Street Food Festival in Beach Street from April 13 and the Taste of Penang programme in Jalan Kelawai from April 20 to 21.
“The Penang Seafood Galore will be held at the Design Village Mall in Batu Kawan from April 27 to 28. All events will be from 5pm to 11pm,” he told a press conference in Komtar recently.
Organiser TLM Event Sdn Bhd managing director Jack Wong said there will also be a pre-event photography competition themed “Penang, Food Paradise of Asia”.
“The PIFF 2019 Photography contest is in February and shortlisted photos will be exhibited at Queensbay Mall in April.
“We have two other events in conjunction with PIFF — the Latte Art Throwdown and the Professional Chef Cooking competitionin April,” he said.
Penang Global Tourism chief executive officer Ooi Chok Yan said they are currently calling for food vendors to join the world-class event.
“We welcome hawkers, cafes, hotelsand restaurants to participate in the 16-dayfood festival and send in their proposals according to the themes.
