CHINESE New Year, celebrated on February 5, ushered in the Year of the Earth Pig, is believed to be an auspicious time for businesses, investment, friendships and love.
Federation of Kwong Siew Association of Malaysia president Ho Sai Chong (pic) said there was always something exciting about the start of a new year.
He said the beginning of the Year of the Pig attracts success and people are blessed with good fortune in life.
“With the dawn of the Year of the Pig, there is even more reason for hope in the coming 12 months,” he said.
Ho who is also the Mother of Dragon (Lung Mu) Temple chairman, added that the Year of the Pig, is special because of its unique place in the Chinese celestial calendar.
“Our Chinese zodiac is a repeating cycle of 12 years, with each year characterised by an animal and its attributes. The Boar is the 12th zodiac animals and, in Chinese culture, pigs are the symbol of wealth as their chubby faces with big ears are signs of fortune as well,” he said.
For people born in the year of the pig, their overall luck for career, health, and love is normal, but their wealth will increase.
Famous people born in the year of the Boar are American singer Carlos Santana, actress Jada Pinkett Smith, rapper and singer Missy Elliott, Bollywood actress Katrina Kaif and singer/actor Ricky Martin, are among the known names.
Ho said people under this zodiac sign were energetic and possessed a willingness to manage positions of power. Realistic people, they could get work done.
“Men born in the Year of the pig are optimistic, gentle and very focused. Given a task they will put everything into it to make it a success. Easily trusting in nature they must be careful not be scammed.
"The women meanwhile are bubbly. Most of them love to attend social events and are kind towards others. Possessing an easygoing personality, they are able to win people’s trust,” he said.
Health-wise, Ho said, they would not suffer major illnesses.
Nonetheless, they must pay attention to minor ailments to keep them from turning into something major.
He said it was better for people born in the pig year to hold on to their current jobs, continue to work hard. Switching jobs should be avoided as much as possible.
In relationships, the pig would likely experience plenty of good moments as well as new prospects for a relationship this year, but they must be bold in communicating their desire.
They are advised to use yellow, grey and brown colours for good luck.
Lucky months are February, March, July, October and Nov 1 to 11.
Ho also advised those under the Boar, Tiger, Monkey and Snake sign to seek divine help in prayer each day to ensure all went well.
