LOCAL council elections should be reintroduced to allow Malaysians the third vote and to restore accountability to local authorities, said speakers at a recent forum on Responsible Citizenship and Local Elections.

Such elections in Malaysia are not new, in fact, they were practiced back in the 1950s.
