POOR families and the needy who cannot afford a proper burial for their loved ones can now do so with assistance from Nirvana Alliance Sdn Bhd.
The company has appointed four charity associations to help promote its Love & Care plan.
The four are Sibu Life Care Society, Enoch Elderly Association, Sibu 611 Bread of Life Church and Sibu Miao Li Tang Temple.
Its chief operating officer for Sibu and Kota Kinabalu, Au Kok Hwa, said the plan represented the company’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) to give back to society.
“A lot of people who are very poor cannot afford a proper last journey. This plan is our way to help them give their loved ones a proper funeral service,” he said.
“The four bodies will certify and recommend the applicants for the plan.
“Our job is to provide them with a casket, funeral service, urn and urn compartment,” he said.
There is no limit to the number of applicants, but their household income must not exceed RM1,200 a month.
Sibu branch business operation manager Bernice Wong presented the certificate of appointment to the four associations.
On another matter, he said the company will be holding a Chinese New Year gathering at its memorial park in Mile 23 Jalan Oya soon.
Since it was set up 28 years ago, he said they have helped schools, poor families and old folk.
“We hope families of the deceased buried at the memorial park will join us at the gathering,” he said.
