UNIVERSITI Tunku Abdul Rahman’s (Utar) lecturer Dr Leong Lai Ying received another feather in her cap as the recipient of the Outstanding Reviewer Award.
She received the “Certificate of Outstanding Contribution in Reviewing” from the Information and Management Journal editors.
The award is a recognition for the top 10 percentile of reviewers for the journal in terms of the number of manuscript reviews completed in the last two years.
Leong said as an active reviewer, she was blessed to receive the award, which was a boost to her confidence, especially in reviewing manuscripts from high-ranking journals.
“I believe with this, I will gain more expertise in commenting constructively, and further enhance the quality of my reviews.
“As a researcher, while reviewing the manuscripts, I am also learning how to improve my writing skills to enhance the quality of journal papers,” she added.
She said the award would also contribute to her career development, expand her academic networking and further enhance her career credentials.
“Reviewing of manuscripts from researchers is all part of the effort to evaluate the degree of originality, significance of contribution as well as to identify any flaws or weaknesses that needs to be addressed,” she added.
Leong’s role as a reviewer also holds significance in ensuring that the articles accepted for publications reflect the latest topics and trends of study.
The reviewing is double-blinded, meaning the reviewers and authors remain anonymous for fair evaluation, and enabling the reviewer to comment freely in hope of enhancing the overall quality of the article. — MANJIT KAUR
