Petronas brings Xmas cheer to 100 families in Sipitang

KOTA KINABALU: Some 100 families from Sipitang had an early Christmas cheer when Petronas Chemicals Fertiliser Sabah Sdn Bhd (PCFSSB) came visiting with gifts.

Families from 30 villages within the vicinity of the company's operations here received hampers during Petronas' Sentuhan Kasih programme on Thursday (Dec 20).

PCFSSB CEO Mohd Kamis A. Manap handed out hampers filled with groceries to the families during the event.

Speaking at the event at Dewan Mini Kampung Pantai, Mohd Kamis said Petronas appreciated the local communities in Sabah and wished to celebrate their diversity during this festive period.

"We hope to strengthen the existing bond shared between us," he said.

He said Petronas remained committed to its corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives and enhance the sustainable development of the people in Sipitang.

The programme is anchored upon the company's three key pillars of community well-being, education and environment.

This is the third year that PCFSSB is carrying out the Sentuhan Kasih programme since its inception in 2016.

Also present at the event were Sabah Minister of Education and Innovation Datuk Dr Yusof Yacob, Petronas Sabah and Labuan general manager Rokiah Sulaiman and the PCFSSB management team.

Earlier on Dec 11, Petronas Chemicals Methanol Sdn Bhd (PCMSB) also organised a similar programme at the Labuan Nukleus Hospital.

PCMSB was represented by its CEO Lawai Jok, who donated three wheelchairs for the hospital and distributed gifts comprising personal care items to 100 patients.

Sentuhan Kasih is Petronas' CSR programme that reaches out to the less fortunate during festive seasons throughout the year.

Launched in 2005, it also aims to nurture the spirit of volunteerism among the employees of Petronas and its affiliates, by providing them a platform to serve the community through the contribution of their time, skills and experience.
